Ted Page Game Used Bat and Glove (c. 1930's)
Ted Page was born in 1903 in Glasgow, Kentucky. Page grew up in Youngstown, Ohio and was an excellent all around athlete. He was offered a football scholarship to Ohio State University after finishing high school. But it was on the baseball field that Page would reach stardom. Page was an aggressive ball player who could run, hit and play defense. He had the honor of playing on two of the greatest Negro League teams of all time: the 1931 Homestead Grays and 1932 Pittsburgh Crawfords. He consistently hit over .300 and ended his Negro League career with a .335 lifetime batting average and .429 batting average against Major League competition. Page hit .351 for the Philadelphia Stars in his last year of Negro League baseball.
